UFC Fight Night 50: Jacare vs. Mousasi took place September 5, 2014 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut. Lightweight bonus hunters Joe Lauzon (24-9) and Michael Chiesa (11-2) collided in a battle of submission artists on the night's main card, which aired live on FOX Sports 1. Round 1: Main card from Mashantucket getting underway. Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for Lauzon/Chiesa. Lauzon, from nearby Bridgewater, Mass, got a big pop from the crowd when he was introduced. They touch them up. Chiesa waving the right out there, and goes for a kick which Lauzon catches and drives him to the ground. Chiesa bounces back up, and they toil on the fence. Lauzon and Chiesa trading positions, and now Lauzon tries to dump Chiesa down. That got a rise out of the crowd, but nothing doing. Short elbow from the clinch from Chiesa. They break and out to center. Leg kick from Chiesa. Nice little combo from the Washington native there, too, which landed up top with a left. Lauzon holds center, and pivots around with Chiesa, now tying him up on fence. Chiesa trying to wrest free, but they stay snagged. Chiesa with the underhook now gets his knees up, and takes Lauzon down. He has his back, and he's going to work on a rear naked choke. But Lauzon reverses! Wow. Now Lauzon with Chiesa's back, and he's wailing away with punches. Chiesa scoots to the fence, and Lauzon, still on his back, still landing. Now it's Lauzon trying to set up a choke; right now Chiesa, with a mile of limbs, defending nicely. Lauzon continues on his back, and when Chiesa spins up they start swinging. Big exchange! Lauzon lands, then eats a couple of big shots. Lauzon took the brunt of the punishment there on the wild chin-check at the end. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Lauzon, 10-9.

Round 2: Big kick from Chiesa right off lands to Lauzon's ribcage; that was loud. Lauzon eats it and plunges ahead. Good little one-two from Lauzon, who connects flush, and now as he follows-up Chiesa tries for take down. Can't get it, but ties him up on fence. Again, they toil there. Lauzon lifts Chiesa into the air and slams him down! Wild scramble. Lauzon for a second treating Chiesa as a wheel barrow, plowing him headfirst along canvas. Lauzon coming alive. He's opened a cut on Chiesa's head, landing punches all the way around the cage. Crazy action! Now Herb Dean steps in and wants to have doctor look at cut. Doctor comes in and waves his arms. Fights over. Cut's too big for Chiesa to continue. Local Lauzon wins the fight. Chiesa doesn't like it. He's storming around the cage and stating his case, but he has blood streaming down his right eye. Doctor didn't like it. Could have been a knee from the clinch that did it.
