Lyoto Machida vs. CB Dollaway? Both sides 'interested' in December showdown in Brazil

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

I believe this is refereed to as the "process of elimination."

With seven of the top 10 middleweight fighters already booked to throw hands, including first choices Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had to look elsewhere for ex-light heavyweight kingpin Lyoto Machida (No. 4).

Enter CB Dollaway (No. 9), according to a report from UFC Tonight, which indicates both parties are "interested" in throwing down this December in Brazil.

Machida (21-5) was able to win back-to-back fights following his drop to 185 pounds, good enough for a crack at division kingpin Chris Weidman. After a grueling and spirited back-and-forth affair at UFC 175 last July, "The Dragon" was sent to the back of the line by way of unanimous decision.

But he looked pretty damn good in defeat.

On the flip side, Dollaway (15-5) is 4-1 since his atrocious 2011 fight campaign, scoring consecutive wins over Cezar Ferreira and Francis Carmont, the latter of which was good enough to sneak him into the division top 10. Where "The Doberman" goes from there, largely depends on how well he performs against Machida.

Do you, as a fight fan, like this middleweight match up?
